The play takes place in Casey's apartment in Manhattan.
It's mid-April at its urban worst.
It's late afternoon on a Friday and it's raining.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kirsten Charlotte "Casey" Delevan is a commercial artist
Morgiana Kendrick, her neighbor is a successful architect
Franklin McHugh, Casey's finance is a ladies' wear buyer for a large store
Hanley Swope is a client of Morgiana's - he's a city planner
Barney Benson, a former schoolmate of Casey's, is a US Treasury agent
Eloise Fitzpatrick McHugh is Franklin's mother - a Boston socialite
The Policeman is one of New York's not at his finest
Morgiana, for certain social reasons, has had an imaginary husband and daughter throughout her business career. Conveniently "widowed" when her "husband" had served his purpose, she is about to embark upon a romance with Hanely but lacks the requisite daughter to back up her subterfuge. She persuades Casey to pretend to be her daughter.
Barney arrives at Casey's apartment to set up a stake out of Morgiana's mythical husband who obviously has been evading income tax for years.
Before long, Casey has to introduce Barney as her brother to her bewildered financee Franklin to account for a strange mans presence in her apartment. Barney's inept surveillance brings a policeman to investigate a supposed "peeping tom" in the building. Eloise then drops by to surprize her son and finance.
All begin arriving at the worst possible conclusions that affects Casey's and Morgiana's romantic plans for the future.
Add to the confusion a horrendous thunderstorm, an invasion of crocodile parasites, a frantic search for a now-you-see-it-now-you-don't Mickey Mouse Club cap by the Treasury Department, plus a bathtub filled with strangers and we have one hillarious fast-moving wacky comedy.

"Me? I'm in ladies underwear!!"
